Water Pump Impeller
The pump impeller is one of the most essential and critical components of a pump. Its function is to convert the mechanical energy transmitted from the motor into the kinetic and pressure energy of the liquid, enabling the liquid to be drawn in and discharged, thus achieving the purpose of fluid transportation.
I. Basic Structure of the Impeller
The impeller is one of the core components of a pump and mainly consists of the following parts:
Cover Plates – Divided into a front and a rear cover plate, they are used to secure the blades and form the flow passage for the liquid.
Blades – The most critical part of the impeller. As the liquid flows between the blades, it gains energy, increasing its velocity and pressure.
Hub – The central part of the impeller that connects to the pump shaft and transmits power to rotate the impeller.
II. Working Principle of the Impeller
When the motor drives the impeller to rotate, the liquid is thrown outward from the center (inlet) to the outer edge (outlet) of the impeller due to centrifugal force.
During this process, the liquid gains both kinetic and pressure energy and is guided into the pump casing.
As the liquid is discharged, a low-pressure zone is formed at the center of the impeller, causing more liquid to be continuously drawn in from the inlet due to the pressure difference.
This process repeats continuously, allowing the liquid to be continuously sucked in and discharged, thereby achieving the purpose of fluid delivery.
III. Analysis of Impeller Materials
The materials used to manufacture impellers can generally be categorized based on their application as follows:
1. Cast iron
2. Stainless steel
3. Copper alloys
4. Engineering Plastics
Engineering plastics have gained popularity among injection molding manufacturers and customers due to their lightweight properties, corrosion resistance, and relatively low cost. The impellers we produce are manufactured using nylon PA66 reinforced with 30% glass fiber (GF). During material formulation, we thoroughly consider the operating environment and usage characteristics, adjusting the recipe to fully meet customer requirements.
Nylon is a widely used engineering material spanning industries such as aerospace, automotive, home appliances, and agricultural machinery. We are a factory specializing in the R&D of modified nylon materials, possessing extensive technical expertise in producing reinforced nylon, flame-retardant nylon, impact-modified nylon, low-warpage nylon, weather-resistant nylon, thermally conductive nylon, and high-glass-fiber-reinforced nylon.
